“Fashion allows you to make a statement without ever saying a word.”

Sarah Doggett Evenson, 28, Fashion Designer

Effortlessly sophisticated, adventurously modern.

The tagline of Marie Oliver, the clothing line of Greensboro native Sarah Doggett Evenson, says it all.

As the founder and creative director of Marie Oliver, Sarah creates clothing for women that want something chic but easy.

“The big thing with the brand is the confidence it gives you,” Sarah says. “Fashion allows you to make a statement without ever saying a word.”

From her home base in Greensboro, Sarah and her husband Peter run this burgeoning fashion brand that is sold in high-end boutiques in the Northeast and across the Southeast. Inspired by Sarah’s own personal style, as well as artwork and vintage items, Sarah strives to create figure-flattering silhouettes. Her pieces are made from luxurious textiles, such as cashmere and silk, and have a loose draping.

While Sarah manages all the creative aspects of Marie Oliver along with her design team out of New York, her husband Peter manages the business side of the company. Marie Oliver has a little piece of both of them. The name itself was made by combining Sarah’s middle name with Peter’s middle name.

Barely a year after their first delivery, Marie Oliver dresses, tops and bottoms can now be found in nearly 100 boutiques, including locally at Simply Meg’s at the Shoppes at Friendly Center and stores in Birmingham, Louisville, Baton Rouge, Charleston, Houston and Nashville.

“Pretty quickly my husband and I adopted a go hard or go home mentality,” Sarah says.
